Many of my paintings take timeless “Classical” themes and infuse them
with a twist of modern culture. The familiar styles and subjects are
intended to capture the attention of a broad audience, creating at first
an element of comfort and recognition. The conflicting imagery within
is always more subtle, allowing for unexpected turns in the otherwise
predictable narrative. I find irony and humor in the merger of ancient
religion and contemporary civilization-especially in America. Blind faith
is blind faith, be it in the Bible, the President or CNN. As religion both
connects and divides, so do many elements of contemporary culture.
